Expert in human-robot interaction: Teena Hassan new professor at H-BRS
The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has gained a new professor: Teena Hassan will teach and conduct research in the Department of Computer Science. Her area of expertise is autonomous systems.

Vortrag "Klimawandel und Kinderrechte" von Prof. Dr. Kerstin Rosenow-Williams
Am 10. Mai 2023 fand die erste Ringvorlesung aus der Reihe "gemeinam nachhaltig" statt. Nach einer Einführung von Prof. Dr. Michaela Wirtz (Vizepräsidentin Transfer, Innovation und Nachhaltigkeit, H-BRS), sprachen Prof. Dr. Kerstin Rosenow-Williams (H-BRS) und Prof. Dr. Frieters-Reermann (katho NRW) zum Klimawandel aus kinderrechtlicher Perspektive und Klimagerechtigkeit und Nachhaltigkeit.

Kommunikationsinitiative "Sichere die digitale Zukunft!"
Im Zuge der Kommunikationsinitiative "Sichere die digitale Zukunft!" des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) war Prof. Dr. Luigi Lo Iacono, Professor für Informationssicherheit und Leiter des Instituts für Cyber Security & Privacy (ICSP) am Fachbereich Informatik der H-BRS, zu Gast in der Christophorusschule in Königswinter (CJD).

Campus-Erweiterung in Sankt Augustin: Land NRW genehmigt Raumprogramm für Neubau der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
Das Land NRW hat „das Raumprogramm für ein Learning Center mit den Schwerpunkten Digitalisierung der Lehre sowie einem Instituts- und Forschungsgebäude zur fachbereichsübergreifenden Nutzung“ am Campus Sankt Augustin genehmigt. Die Planungen für den dringend notwendigen Neubau südlich des Gebäudeteils G können beginnen.

Students learn about H-BRS stem cell research
Around 50 high school students from the region gained an insight into stem cell research at the H-BRS on Friday. The working group "Molecular Genetics and Stem Cell Research" under the direction of Professor Edda Tobiasch informed the pupils about the work as a scientist and about studying at the university. In addition, they were able to conduct their own first experiments in the laboratory.

Alexander Graf Lambsdorff visits H-BRS
Exciting exchange on global issues and the role of science in times of crisis: Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, Deputy Chairman of the FDP parliamentary group and designated German Ambassador in Moscow, was a guest at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. The occasion was a joint interview with University President Hartmut Ihne, which will appear in the upcoming annual report.

Short Course on "Social Protection and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities"
APPLICATIONS OPEN FROM JUNE 21-JULY 5, 2023! Course takes place from July 18-October 20, 2023. Objectives The course aims at developing capacity of participants to design, advice or advocate for inclusive social protection systems and schemes fostering empowerment of persons with disabilities across the life cycle. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: Develop a rationale for reforms towards inclusive social protection systems; Identify barriers undermining access of persons with disabilities to social protection schemes/programs; Analyze social protection systems’ capacities to provide adequate support to persons with disabilities; Understand the combination of different types of programs and schemes that can contribute to income security, access to health care and coverage of disability-related costs across the life cycle; Develop context relevant strategies to progressively achieve universal and comprehensive social protection for empowerment of persons with disabilities. Support meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in social protection related processes.

Am Institut für Verbraucherinformatik (IVI) der H-BRS erforschte Dennis Lawo - jetzt Doktor Dennis Lawo - wie digitale Technologien uns dabei unterstützen können, bei Ernährung und Mobilität nachhaltiger zu handeln. Am 2. Februar fand seine Verteidigung an der Universität Siegen statt.
