Delegation from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Tanzania visits Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences
On April 9, 2025, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Tanzania to the Sankt Augustin campus. The aim of the meeting was to further consolidate the existing partnership and develop new perspectives for future cooperation.

Security vulnerabilities discovered in WLAN access points from Extreme Networks
A team of IT security researchers from the Department of Computer Science at H-BRS has discovered several serious security vulnerabilities in AeroHive/Extreme Networks WLAN access points. The starting point was the analysis of used devices, whose firmware the team examined in detail. The researchers discovered a number of serious vulnerabilities - from authentication problems to complete system control by attackers.

Successful Girl'sDay at the Department of Computer Science
On Girl's Day 2025, the Department of Computer Science, the Institute Cyber Security & Privacy (ICSP), the Institute for Visual Computing (IVC) and the Institute for Security Research (ISF) at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) opened their doors to offer schoolgirls exciting insights into the world of computer science, cyber security and visual computer graphics. Numerous young people had the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops and exciting presentations.

Podcast Green Campus: Erste Folgen rund um Nachhaltigkeit im Campusleben
Innerhalb der Lehrveranstaltung "Green Campus – Gemeinsam für eine nachhaltige, klimaresiliente und lebenswerte Hochschule" ist ein Podcast entstanden. Acht Studierende aus den Fachbereichen Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Technikjournalismus haben drei Podcast-Folgen zu Nachhaltigkeitsthemen für den Campus entwickelt. Die erste Folge ist nun offiziell erschienen. Das Seminar wurde von Professorin Wiltrud Terlau und der wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin Silvia Berenice Fischer vom Internationalen Zentrum für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (IZNE) geleitet.

Mechanical engineering student volunteers for tutoring
Mechanical engineering student Sabrina Roy is a volunteer at StudyTutors, an association that places students with pupils whose families cannot afford conventional tutoring. The 19-year-old works in the Bonn office and on the national board and regularly meets with committed students.

At the spring conference of the NRW State Conference of Equal Opportunities Officers on March 27, 2025 in Sankt Augustin, around 60 participants discussed strategies for dealing with increasing resistance to equality at universities, especially in politically challenging times.

Forschungsbeitrag an der Politischen Akademie in Tutzing
Die Forschungsaktivitäten am Fachbereich 06 haben zwei Forscher an den Starnberger See geführt. In der dortigen Akademie für Politische Bildung in Tutzing fand eine wissenschaftliche Konferenz zur Medienethik statt. Hier konnten die neuesten Ergebnisse des Forschungsprojekts NEBULA vorgestellt werden.

CrossComITS-Team präsentiert Forschung auf DGPUK-Jahrestagung
Auch außerhalb der Lehre sind die Mitglieder des Fachbereichs Sozialpolitik und Soziale Sicherung aktiv. Zum Beispiel forscht ein Team im Projekt CrossComITS zum Thema Cybersecurity mit Bezug auf vulnerable soziale Gruppen. Bei einer wichtigen Konferenz in Berlin wurden jetzt Ergebnisse präsentiert.
