MSc Social Protection Alumni Event in Tanzania
The alumni workshop brought 27 alumni and 3 staff members of the Master's programme in Social Protection (MSc) together with social protection and insurance experts and practitioners to facilitate knowledge exchange, foster innovative ideas, and promote collaborative efforts toward enhancing social protection systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.

On Aug. 23, 2023, Daniel Klein successfully defended his dissertation and can soon call himself Dr. rer. nat. The cooperative doctorate was carried out together with the University of Siegen, where the defense also took place.

How can multisensory stimuli be used to elicit a complex response in VR?
As part of the DAAD project "Program of Project-Related Exchange of Persons Japan JSP 2023-2025, there is the international project between Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) in Japan called "Multisensory Cues to Evoke Emotional Responses and Awe in Virtual Reality". The study has now been published in Virtual Reality Society of Japan (VRSJ) 2023.

Jascha Knack is the first registered doctoral student under the new doctoral law
In November 2022, the State Ministry for Culture and Science granted the doctoral college of the universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia the right to award doctorates. Now the technical processes have been set up and those interested in doing a doctorate can enrol at the H-BRS according to the new procedure. One month later, from 1.10.23, it will also be possible to enrol at the PK NRW. Computer scientist Jascha Knack made a start and enrolled directly in the first week of September.

Wie viel Bodenleben steckt unter einem Fußballplatz? Die Rolle der Böden für unser Klima
Während des viertägigen Blockseminars „Nachhaltigkeit und Bodenschutz“ sollen den Teilnehmenden Basiskenntnisse über Böden und Biomasse vermittelt sowie die chemischen, physikalischen und biologischen Parameter von Böden im Zusammenhang mit dem Klimawandel aufgezeigt werden. Ein besonders wichtiges Thema, denn lange war nicht klar, welche Rolle Böden im Kontext des Klimas spielen.
