Equalization of H-BRS in the top ten
The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) is one of the top universities nationwide in terms of equal opportunities. The university secured the seventh place in the CEWS ranking. H-BRS has improved by 43 places compared to the previous ranking.
H-BRS is one of the "Excellent Places" in 2017
The EPICSAVE project of the H-BRS is one of the prize winners in the innovation competition "Excellent Places in the Land of Ideas" of this year. In line with the competition motto "Being open-minded - so that something new can unfold" EPICSAVE demonstrates how experimentation, curiosity and the courage to change thinking can arise forward-looking innovations in the training of emergency responders.
H-BRS scores well in 2017 CHE rankings
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg achieved good ratings in the university rankings produced by the Centre for University Development (CHE). This year, the focus is on Business Management and Business Information Systems, both study programmes scored well for their excellent international orientation.
H-BRS flies high as a "role model university"
Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University has once again performed outstandingly in the "Startup Radar" study by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (donors' association for the promotion of humanities and sciences in Germany). In the league table of medium-sized universities - institutions with between 5,000 and 15,000 students - the university is ranked in eighth place. If only universities of applied sciences are considered, then H-BRS holds third place.
H-BRS re-assessed as a family-friendly university
Certification through the "Family Friendly University Audit", which the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has held since 2007, was renewed in October 2016.
2016
H-BRS scores at analytical framework of MIWF
The NRW Ministry of Science has published a comparison of the performance of state universities in North Rhine-Westphalia in July 2016. The departments of Computer Science and Natural Sciences of the H-BRS score well at the research success.
H-BRS scores in CHE rankings in May 2016
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg achieved good ratings in the university rankings produced by the Centre for University Development (CHE), which was published on 3 May in the new ZEIT 2016 Study Guide. The University and District Library achieved a top position in both faculty surveys.
2015
Excellent computer science in Sankt Augustin
For the ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), students were surveyed in autumn 2015 on categories such as courses offered, studyability, internationality or IT equipment. The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg with its Master's programme in Computer Science achieved above-average results in all categories.
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is "Best Mechanical Engineering House 2015".
Great jubilation on 5 May 2015 among the representatives of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism at the H-BRS in Berlin. VDMA President Dr Reinhold Festge had just announced the department as the winner of the "Best Machine House 2015" competition.

H-BRS scores well in the CHE ranking in computer science
Spring 2015: The H-BRS receives good ratings in the current university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE). In the examined department of computer science, the students are very satisfied with the practical relevance of their study programme.
2014
Pioneers in international orientation
Winter 2014: The Master’s degree programmes in "Controlling and Management" and "Innovation and Information Management" at H-BRS’ Department of Management Sciences have been awarded the best rating for international orientation by the Centre for University Development (CHE).
Seal of quality for international orientation awarded to H-BRS
Winter 2014: On 1 December 2014, at the close of a department conference on internationalisation in Berlin, Marijke Wahlers, Head of the Department of International Affairs at the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), awarded a prize to our university for its involvement with the HRK audit 'Internationalisation of Universities'.
H-BRS re-certified as a family-friendly university
Summer 2014: The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has been certified as a family-friendly university without any interruption since 2007. In summer 2014 it was re-certified for the second time, after 2010, for the next three years. H-BRS was founded as a female-friendly university and has since been extended to become a gender neutral and family-friendly university.
H-BRS wins prize awarded by Stifterverband
Summer 2014: Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg has won the competition "Innovative Early Study Phase" run by the Stifterverband and by the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation based on their project "HBRS StartGut". "HBRS StartGut" is aimed at facilitating the early study phase for freshers and thus, at improving study success.
Excellent grades for study situation and practical relevance by CHE
Summer 2014: This year the study programmes in Business Administration, Business Management, Technical Journalism and Business Information Systems have been assessed in accordance with the university ranking published by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) in the latest ZEIT Study Guide.

CHE Ranking 2013: Study programmes of H-BRS once again in the top league
Summer 2013: In the current ranking, numerous study programmes of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences, are once again riding high. The ranking focused on the degree programmes in Chemistry, Biology, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in particular.
2012
Success in the Management Cup
Autumn 2012: Our University was ranked among the Top 10 in the first Management Cup carried out by the German “Wirtschaftswoche” magazine, a nation-wide business simulation game. Students from the Department of Business Administration helped our University to come 10th in the competition, thus attaining a higher rank than any other university in the German Land of North Rhine-Westphalia.
2011
The best apprentice in NRW comes from the H-BRS
Autumn 2011: Nadine Stefanczyk, biology laboratory technician in the Department of Applied Natural Sciences, has done it: she is one of the best trainees in NRW in 2011. At the state award ceremony of the North Rhine-Westphalian Chambers of Industry and Commerce on 11 November 2011 in Bochum, Stefanczyk received a certificate and a trophy as one of the two best biology laboratory technicians in the state.
Member of the European University Association
Autumn 2011: Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg becomes a member of the European University Association (EUA). Hartmut Ihne, President of the University, said: "We are delighted to be a member of the EUA. This also demonstrates the university's outstanding research performance. Membership is an important step in the further European and international networking of our work.
Student Satisfaction: Top ranks and awards
Autumn 2011: Students have given very good ratings to our university in two surveys: in the Study Quality Monitor (SQM) of the University Information System (Hochschulinformations-system - HIS) and in the StudiVZ online portal. Among other things, the two surveys dealt with study quality, conditions and practical relevance of study, but also with the students’ personal study situation.
Research focus health tourism: award for "Selected Location 2011"
Summer 2011: The research project "health tourism" from the Department of Business Administration on Sankt Augustin Campus has won an award in the contest "365 locations in the land of ideas" (365 Orte im Land der Ideen), organised by the location initiative "Germany - land of ideas" in collaboration with Deutsche Bank. more>>
ProMINT-us: Success in the "Bund-Länder-Programm"
The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is one of 17 universities in the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia that will be funded from the 2011/2012 winter semester within the framework of the "Quality Pact for Teaching", supported by a joint programme of the Federal Government and the federal states of Germany ("Bund-Länder-Programm").
2011 University Ranking by Universum and Kelly OCG
Spring 2011: Job prospects, study programmes and degrees. Personnel managers were surveyed concerning the German university landscape. In 2011, H-BRS is among the Top 10 in the categories of "Business Administration" and "Business Information Technology".
2010
Student satisfaction: H-BRS ranked third
Summer 2010: In the winter semester, Universum Communications, in collaboration with more than 100 universities, interviewed approximately 20,000 students on their university experiences, employer preferences and career expectations. Just as last year, the students gave very good ratings to the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences.
Company representatives rate universities
This year, more than 5,000 company representatives have been requested to rate the German university landscape. H-BRS is among the Top Twelve in Business Administration and Business Information Technology.
2009
Best provider of apprenticeships for biology lab assistants
Autumn 2009: In 2009 H-BRS was honoured by the Bonn Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) for excellent training performance. Wojciech Leszynski, biology lab assistant and best apprentice of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, won this award.
Students give excellent ratings to their university
Summer 2009: At no other university in Germany are students more satisfied than at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS). This is confirmed by the representative survey carried out by the Universum Communications consultancy.
Computer Science takes the lead in CHE university ranking
Spring 2009: Every year the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) conducts a university ranking that is published in the study guide of the ZEIT magazine. This study guide is mainly intended to serve as an orientation aid for people holding a higher education entrance qualification (Abiturienten) as well as first-semester students. Of the range of subjects taught at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences, only Computer Science was reassessed in the latest ranking - achieving outstanding results.
2008
StudiVZ gives good ratings to H-BRS
Winter 2008: In the extensive university survey carried out by the computer platform StudiVZ all across Europe, users ranked the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) fifth (grade 1.9) among their German-language universities, universities of applied sciences and universities of co-operative education. Major criteria include the practical relevance of the study programmes as well as the library and accommodation facilities.
H-BRS takes national lead in supporting company foundation
Winter 2008: In the survey "Framework Conditions and Characteristics of Academic Support for Company Foundation at 100 German Universities of Applied Sciences", conducted by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, our university, which attained 70 out of 100 points, was ranked first in North Rhine-Westphalia and fifth in Germany. The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg achieved outstanding results in the categories "training for company founders and entrepreneurship support" as well as "company foundation activities".
University and District Library is top in German BIX library index
Summer 2008: H-BRS and District Library is top of the league among academic libraries in the latest German BIX Library Index, the national liberary ranking.
European E-Quality Seal 2007
Summer 2008: The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg was one out of eight German universities to receive the European E-Quality Seal from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
