H-BRS in brief: Professor Johannes Steinhaus on the environmental impact of microplastics
The pollution of our planet with plastic and microplastics is a global problem of enormous proportions. Invited by the United Nations, in Uruguay governments and organisations are currently negotiating an agreement against plastic waste. Professor Johannes Steinhaus of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is focusing his research on microplastic pollution. The scientist has an idea for solving the problem of microscopic particles that enter rivers and oceans via waste water from washing machines.

Big rush at the Company Day of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
The Company Day at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) met with a great response. According to estimates by the university, a total of about 4000 visitors gathered information at the two-day fair (Wednesday, 9 November, and Thursday, 10 November). 148 companies presented themselves on the campus in Sankt Augustin, 74 companies were present on each day. The Company Day is the largest career fair in the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg region in terms of exhibitors.

Researchers from H-BRS honored for their work on greater security on the Internet
The Stifterverband has awarded Professor Luigi Lo Iacono and Stephan Wiefling from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) with the Open Data Impact Award 2022. The two scientists have made a data set freely available that can be used to improve the security of Internet accounts. Software developers thus gain access to valuable data that previously only a few very large Internet corporations had at their disposal.

b-it-bots with a start-to-finish victory: RoboCup World Champions
The b-it-bots team from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg won the @work league title at the RoboCup World Championships in Sydney. It was a smooth start-to-finish victory.
