Projects of the IZNE

The IZNE conducts interdisciplinary research and networking activities with university-internal as well as external partners and implements projects at regional, national and international level with a focus on developing and emerging countries.

Research projects without public funding:

Research projects at the IZNE that are conducted without public funding, for example developments in the context of final theses.

Current projects

The Energy Meteorology Laboratory:

In cooperation with the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, the IZNE operates an energy meteorology laboratory at the Sankt Augustin campus. This laboratory includes a WMO-compliant weather station, a radiation measuring device, a fisheye camera for cloud observation as well as a photovoltaic system and spectrometers to supplement the radiation measurement.

Completed projects

Campus to World (Citizen Science):

The citizen sciences are part of the "Campus to World" project. Together with scientists from the H-BRS, citizens can help shape and stimulate innovations for sustainable development.

Regional forum on sustainable food management:

The Regional Forum for Responsible Management in the Field of Sustainable Food aims to discuss and analyse the above-mentioned topics in cooperation with universities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and companies in the region and to develop solutions.

Global Partnership - North Rhine-Westphalia for International Sustainable Development:

A series of events organised by the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE), funded by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MIWF).

Health and sustainable mobility in companies:

As part of the funding measure "ZukunftsWerkStadt" in the Science Year 2012 - Future Project Earth, IZNE developed and implemented a moderated communication and motivation process together with its project partners.

Bonn International Summer School on Responsible Business (BISS):

The aim of the Summer School is to discuss challenges of the future together with CEOs of large and medium-sized internationally active companies and to strengthen responsibility in the corporate sector in the long term.

Restoration of the Fosu Lagoon in Cape Coast / Ghana:

Together with the City of Bonn and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), the IZNE is working on the restoration of the Fosu Lagoon in Cape Coast (West Africa).

Trilateral partnership with African universities:

With Cape Coast University in Ghana and the University of Nairobi in Kenya, a trilateral science alliance was initiated with a thematic focus on sustainable development. The starting point was the cooperation between the Institute for Development Studies (IDS) in Kenya, the institute of the same name in Ghana and the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.
