Approach

IZNE works in close connection with all parts of the university. In the fields of teaching, research, and consulting together with its internal and external partners it takes a practical and business-oriented approach. The goal is the creation of a real workshop, a place of origin of knowledge for reform, innovation and change processes.

Methodologically, the different professional backgrounds of the professors, the managing director and the employees are taken into account and brought together within the framework of the IZNE toolbox. This enables a more holistic view of problems and the development of innovative, interdisciplinary solutions.

Strong cooperation and integration of IZNE into BRSU is achieved through the professorships simultaneously held at IZNE and the respective areas of study. Additionally, a working group for sustainability at BRSU which represents all parts of the university has been founded and meets on a regular basis; other networks are under development. Thus, interdisciplinarity and thematic diversity are ensured and integrated into teaching, research, and consulting.

Cooperation especially with actors from research and praxis on regional and international level presents another focus area. For this purpose, IZNE makes use of its locational advantage within the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg region with its manifold businesses, development cooperations, and environmental, scientific, and political organisations. At the same time, IZNE enhances cooperation with partnering countries, especially with institutions and businesses in emerging and developing countries.
