At the research-strong Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, many research colleagues are already integrated into sustainable institute structures. The university sees its responsibility for research particularly in the area of major societal challenges.
The research groups and especially the institutes at H-BRS have developed independent profiles that enable them to successfully acquire third-party funding, both from the public sector and private donors. The university's researchers are supported and assisted in their research applications by the Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (ZWT).
The university's main areas of research
- Security research
- Visual computing,
- sustainability, resource conservation and energy efficiency
as well as other key research topics such as digitalisation, AI, life science and health are also embedded in teaching in the relevant departments. They enrich this teaching with their research activities, particularly in the Master's degree programmes. After completing their Master's degree, the university's Graduate Institute offers young academics the opportunity to gain further qualifications through doctoral programmes in the NRW Doctoral College and in cooperative doctorates with national and international partner universities.
Instruments of research funding and transfer
As Vice President Research and Transfer, I see it as my task to stimulate and promote research and transfer at the university. This involves continuously improving the working conditions for researchers at this university. At the same time, we utilise our excellent contacts in industry and research institutions to maintain and establish interdisciplinary, application-oriented and international networks in order to research the key issues and challenges of our time and apply solutions.
Our university's Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (ZWT) is the central point of contact for science, industry and society with regard to application-oriented research and cooperation. The ZWT advises and supports researchers at the university in the application process and is also the first point of contact for companies wishing to co-operate with the university.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to shape the future of tomorrow together with us.
