reTURN project meeting at Caphenia: Tour of the renewable fuel reactor
In November, a project meeting on the research project "reTURN - Recycling organic residues and CO2 into fuels" took place at our cooperation partner CAPHENIA in Frankfurt am Main. The International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) is working with Prof Dr Stefanie Meilinger on the life cycle assessment of the sustainable fuel.

Im Projekt EcoTwin- Digitaler Zwilling urbaner Grünflächen soll eine Künstliche Intelligenz dabei helfen, Grünflächen so zu optimieren, dass die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels besser abgefangen werden. Working together for the future: ESD workshop with Jordanian and Lebanese universities
As part of the DAAD Ta’ziz CREATE & Sustain project, 19 participants from Jordan, Lebanon and Germany met on 25 November at the Sankt Augustin Campus to explore how Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be more effectively integrated into university teaching. The workshop “Education for Sustainable Development – Integration of the UN SDGs into the Curriculum” was jointly organised by the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) and the Department of Engineering and Communication (IWK) at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS).

From 24 to 27/28 November 2025, H-BRS welcomed guests from Jordan and Lebanon. The reason for the visit was two ongoing DAAD Ta'ziz short-term projects, each of which included a workshop at H-BRS.

Year in review: Partnership with the Vietnamese-German University
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg looks back on an intensive year of cooperation with the Vietnamese-German University (VGU). H-BRS is a founding member of the German consortium association of the VGU and has been involved in the development of joint study programmes for many years. The cooperation agreement, which has been in place since 2016, was successfully extended for another five years this year.

ICSP delegation visits Cybersecurity Campus Paris
Prof. Petra Haferkorn travelled to Paris from Sankt Augustin together with her colleagues Prof. Stefan Schiffner and Prof. Hannes Tschofenig as part of a delegation from the ICSP at H-BRS. The two-day trip, organised by the IHK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, brought entrepreneurs and experts to the Cybersecurity Campus Paris in La Défense, one of Europe's leading centres for cybersecurity. The aim was to open up new perspectives for teaching, research and future cooperation.

Successful training and exchange series for data protection coordinators – continuation planned for 2026
The new training and exchange formats for data protection coordinators have been successfully launched. Three intensive face-to-face sessions clearly demonstrated the great need for guidance, networking and collegial exchange. The format will be continued in 2026 with short training courses and impulses focusing on specific topics.
