Research and speciality professorships at H-BRS

The research professorship was introduced in the University Development Plan I in 2010 and has been an important instrument in promoting research ever since.

A research professorship provides professors with more time (between six and nine semester hours per week) to devote to scientific research by reducing the number of teaching appointments. A research professorship can be awarded upon application if the professor has proven himself/herself in research in a special way.

A research professorship serves in particular
  • to strengthen and sharpen the research profile of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
  • to intensify research activities and increase the volume of third-party funding
  • to appreciate professors who are active in research
  • to motivate other professors to open up further fields of research and to implement new research ideas
