Social Protection (M.Sc.)
Content of the program
The Master's degree programme "Social Protection (M.Sc.)" offers an interdisciplinary and in-depth examination of social security systems. You will learn to analyze and reform systems that are effective, affordable, and flexible enough to meet future socio-economic challenges.
We want you to:
- gain deeper insights into the basic elements, influencing factors and instruments of social protection systems in low-, middle- and high-income countries;
- know how different analytical methods are applied to the design and redesign of social protection systems,
- develop a solid understanding of how social protection systems can be institutionally anchored and sustainably financed;
- are familiar with the most modern management methods in order to implement measures effectively and efficiently,
- build up a network of national and international experts.

Graduates have career opportunities in a wide range of sectors, for example as policy planners, managers or consultants for:
- Ministries

- Social security institutions
- NGOs
- International (Development) Organizations
