Project Description
Four universities in North Rhine-Westphalia have joined forces to establish the "Games Technology Network" (GTN). The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) has taken on the coordination. Its partners are RWTH Aachen University, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and Cologne University of Technology. The project is initially scheduled to run for two years and is supported by the NRW Future Fund.
The declared aim of the new alliance is to establish a network of research institutions and industrial companies that will promote gaming technology and thus benefit NRW as a business location.
The partners hold workshops with industry and other stakeholders from the cultural sector, academia and public institutions. In this way, the innovation potential is to be explored. The offer is primarily aimed at regional companies and institutions.
In the medium term, the GTN is to develop into a research and innovation center that looks at game development in all its facets and integrates the games industry in NRW.
With the lecture series game.impulse, the Master in Visual Computing and Games Technology program has initiated a series of short impulse lectures by experts from industry and academia on selected topics in game design and development. They are part of the series: "Visual Computing - Colloquium".
These lectures are open to students of the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg as well as to students of other universities. The first lectures of the series illustrate the focus and expertise of the lecturer team in the field of Virtual Reality by specifically looking at VR games.
