Professor Stefanie Meilinger at the Week of the Environment in Berlin - Forum Hydrogen
Everyone is talking about hydrogen as an important building block for climate neutrality. Green hydrogen can replace fossil fuels and thus make an important contribution to energy security. Hydrogen can also be used as a raw material in the chemical industry and as a reducing agent in the steel industry. Hydrogen is therefore also essential for Germany as an industrial centre. There is currently much debate about the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen.
On 4 June 2024, the four experts Manuela Jopen, Ralph Kleinschmidt, Michael Sterner and Stefanie Meilinger discussed current questions in expert forum 3 ‘Hydrogen - energy carrier with a future’: What can hydrogen do and for which areas of application does the use of hydrogen make sense? How sustainable is the use of green or blue hydrogen? What about safety and acceptance issues? What infrastructure is required and how can existing infrastructure be used?
We are delighted to have been invited to this successful dialogue! The expert forum was organised by the VDI (Association of German Engineers). Photos by Hanna Seefeld (VDI).
