Project Description

Objectiv

The research project examines determinants of international policy diffusion and the role of transgovernmental policy networks for policy change in the field of social protection in developing and emerging countries.

Research Approach

Policy diffusion and policy transfer are research programs that deal with the international spread of policies. Different mechanisms, among them policy learning, have been identified by related research to explain policy diffusion. In particular, drawing on insights and explanatory models from diffusion research, exchange processes within transgovernmental policy networks are traced and evaluated.

Outcome

In the first phase, the conceptual and empirical state of research in the field of policy diffusion and transfer is reviewed in general and in relation to social protection. In the second phase, exchange processes within different transgovernmental networks are examined.
