Project Description
The research project "Diversity of Insects in Nature protected Areas (DINA)" is the first of its kind in Germany and aims to address research deficits on the effects of agricultural use in the vicinity of nature protected areas in the field of applied biodiversity research. Thus, the impact of agricultural use on biodiversity is to be assessed, with the protection of insect diversity being the focus of the investigation. To this end, the largest database in Germany of the most species-rich animal groups will be compiled, characterized taking into account plant-related and spatial data, and classified ecotoxicologically.
Within the institutional framework, the International Center for Sustainable Development (IZNE) investigates in different studies (qualitative/quantitative) the role of the involved stakeholders (such as farmers, landowners, civil society, public administration). Finally, evidence-based policy recommendations are made, which enable a more effective protection of biodiversity - involving the stakeholders - and make it effectively implementable.
Subproject IZNE: Institutional Framework and Stakeholder Analysis
The overall objective of the IZNE sub-project is to identify all relevant stakeholder groups from the project areas as well as those with nationwide relevance, to understand their concerns and to work through these in relation to the use of natural resources in (neighborhood to) nature conservation areas and to elaborate possible solutions for the protection of biodiversity. Furthermore, IZNE is responsible for bridging the gap from spatial analysis to stakeholder and social labs (dialogue events/constructive exchange with stakeholders). Furthermore, the results and recommended actions are prepared together with the project partners for publication and broad utilization.

Furthermore, the findings are prepared together with the project partners for publication and broad utilization. consist of qualitatively conducted expert interviews in the context of the project areas as well as a subsequent quantitative study, which has a geographically significantly larger focus. The results of this stakeholder analysis and management with regard to biodiversity issues are incorporated into the recommendations for action of the overall project and are suitable for transfer to the (direct) environment of nature conservation areas throughout Germany.
