Curriculum vitae

Imme Scholz has been a board member of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Berlin since April 2022. Prior to that, she was Deputy Director of the German Development Institute (DIE) from 2009 to 2022. Since 2013, she has been a member of the German Council for Sustainable Development, which advises the Federal Chancellery. Other memberships include the German National Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth, the Supervisory Board of Bread for the World, the North-South Advisory Board of the Böll Foundation and the Chamber for Sustainable Development of the EKD. She has been at the DIE since 1992, where she headed the environmental department between 2002 and 2010. In 2009 she was appointed Deputy Director of the DIE. Between 1999 and 2002, Imme Scholz worked for GTZ as a government advisor in the Brazilian Amazon region, as part of a pilot programme for the protection of Brazilian tropical forests that was central to climate protection. Her main areas of work include policy integration/coordination for sustainable development, environment and development, the interplay between climate and development policy and global environmental governance. Between 1985-1990, Imme Scholz studied sociology, politics and Protestant theology at the Free University of Berlin. She also completed her doctorate there in 1999.
