H-BRS scores highly in the national CHE ranking

Tuesday 7 May 2019

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg receives good ratings in the university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), which is published today in the new ZEIT Study Guide 2019. This year's focus is on the Departments of Natural Sciences (AnNa) and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism (EMT). Around 20 H-BRS degree programmes are represented in the online ranking from previous surveys.

For the new CHE ranking, two departments of the H-BRS with the associated Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at the university locations Sankt Augustin (EMT department) and Rheinbach (AnNa department) were examined:

Applied Natural Sciences

The bachelor's degree programmes in the Department of Natural Sciences scored particularly well in the ranking with their very good support at the start of studies, the laboratory equipment and the services offered by the University and District Library. The department's English-language Applied Biology (Bachelor's) and Biomedical Sciences (Master's) degree programmes also have a first-class international orientation according to the CHE. These ratings correspond exactly with the results of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) regarding the university's internationality.

Engineering

In the EMT department, the engineering degree programmes Electrical Engineering (Bachelor and Master), Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor and Master) and Sustainable Engineering (Bachelor) were evaluated. According to the CHE, all bachelor's degree programmes offer an excellent connection to professional practice. Mechanical engineering students are particularly satisfied with the organisation of their studies, the facilities in the rooms and laboratories and the general study situation, awarding top marks. Electrical Engineering scored very well in terms of study support, study organisation and laboratory equipment. The department also offers the electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and sustainability engineering degree programmes as dual degree programmes and achieves top ratings for the dovetailing of studies and training.

By the way

In the general information about the university as a whole, it can be seen that half of the students come to the university by public transport, around a third use cars or motorbikes and around 37 per cent of students come on foot or by bike.

In addition to this, the university is also a popular destination for students

With the CHE University Ranking, the ZEIT Study Guide answers the most important questions about starting a degree programme, helps you decide on the right subject and the right place to study and provides tips on applying and financing your studies. The CHE ranking is the most comprehensive in the German-speaking world with more than 300 universities analysed and around 150,000 students surveyed.
