19.01.2023 - VDI-Award Ceremony

Jannik Brockerhoff, research assistant in the "Games Technology Network (GTN)" project at the H-BRS, is awarded 1st prize for his Bachelor's thesis on "Enhancing immersion in virtual reality by developing an inertial feedback system" by laudator and prize donor Stefan Weber (Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH - Buderus Deutschland) at the VDI sponsorship award ceremony. His supervisors Prof. Dr. Ernst Kruijff (H-BRS) and Prof. Dr. Jan Gugenheimer (TU Darmstadt) are proud of the scientific work and congratulate him warmly.

11.04.2023 - 1st place Hack-a-Sat-4

At the international Hack-a-Sat 4 (HAS4), Team Krautsat, which also includes hackers from the RedRocket team founded in the H-BRS, won the ticket for a place in space. With a sensational 1st place, they qualified in the competition hosted by the US Air Force and won $10,000.

04.05.2023 - Best Paper Award IEEE EDUCOM 2023

May 1 - May 4, 2023 American University of Kuwait Salmiya, Kuwait - At this year's IEEE EDUCON 2023, Prof. Dr. Irene Rothe from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism (H-BRS) and André Kless, Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science (H-BRS), together secured the Best Paper Award in the category "Infrastructure and Technologies for Engineering Education".

15.05.2023 - Best paper award RoSE 2023 Workshop

At the recent International Workshop on Robotics Software Engineering (RoSE), which was co-located with the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), Minh Nguyen, Prof. Hochgeschwender, and Prof. Wrede (Bielefeld University) presented a paper with the title "An analysis of behaviour-driven requirement specification for robotic competitions." For this work, they were awarded a best paper award at the workshop!

09.07.2023 - b-it-bots team won the world championship

The b-it-bots team from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) has won the world championship title at RoboCup 2023 in Bordeaux, France. In the @work league of the robot tournament, the team of students from the Department of Computer Science beat their opponents from the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and the University of Magdeburg into second and third place. It is the second success for the H-BRS team, which had already crowned itself world champion in 2019.

20.09.2023 - 1st and 2nd place at AFCEA Study Award 2023

Two students from the Autonomous Systems Master's programme in the Department of Computer Science at the H-BRS won first and second place in the study award of the User Forum for Telecommunications, Computers, Electronics and Automation (AFCEA) this year.

14.11.2023 - UMMBAS: Using computer game technology to develop active substances against diseases

Bio-chemical research is increasingly dependent on accurate computer modelling and analysis. This requires different disciplines such as natural sciences, computer science and engineering to work hand in hand. A research group has been established at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) that brings together existing expertise in visual computing, biomedicine and materials science. With its computer-aided models, the group aims to bring molecular relationships to the big screen of virtual reality - and thus provide unexpected insights.

13.12.2023 - DFG funds cutting-edge research

Great success for the research-strong Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS): The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding the establishment of a centre for biomedical research. The university's project is one of ten nationwide that the DFG has selected for its "Forschungsimpulse" programme. H-BRS will receive around 6 million euros over the next five years. This is the first time that the DFG has funded collaborative projects at universities of applied sciences.
