Project Description

In the e-H@C HUPAction project, a system is being developed and tested to improve the cross-border exchange of information between authorities and companies in the vegetable value chain, using the Euregio Rhine-Waal as an example. The focus is on the rapid detection and monitoring of health risks as well as the control of hazards posed by enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) bacteria.

In this context, the International Center for Sustainable Development, together with the European IT Consultancy EITCO GmbH, is developing a prototype for social media monitoring. The findings of the social media analyses provide the basis for responsible corporate communication before, during and after food crises that meet the information needs of consumers. In addition, the data will be examined in terms of its usability for crisis managers at the regulatory level.

Funding source

The project e-H@C HUPAction is co-financed within the INTERREG IV A program Germany-Nederland with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport, North Rhine-Westphalia and the Dutch Ministerie van Economische Zaken as well as the Provincie Gelderland. It is accompanied by the program management at Euregio Rhine-Waal.
