Ars legendi award winner Professor Lehmann honoured
Professor Dr Klaus Lehman from the Department of Natural Sciences at H-BRS received this year's prestigious Ars legendi Faculty Award for excellent university teaching from the Stifterverband for the field of chemistry.
The Ars legendi Faculty Prize for Mathematics and Natural Sciences is awarded to academics who distinguish themselves through outstanding, innovative and exemplary achievements in teaching, counselling and supervision. Lehmann was honoured for a variety of measures to improve the introductory phase of studies in particular through elements that encourage and motivate students. The prize is intended to highlight the particular importance of university teaching for the training of young talent in mathematics and the natural sciences and is endowed with 5,000 euros.
Together with Klaus Lehmann, Frank Sprenger from the University of Regensburg (Biology), Leif Döring from the University of Mannheim (Mathematics) and Bernd-Uwe Runge and Philipp Möhrke from the University of Konstanz (Physics) received the Ars legendi Faculty Prize this year. The award ceremony took place on 26 April 2018 at the Science Centre of the Deutsches Museum Bonn.
University President Hartmut Ihne also congratulated the prizewinner and expressed his pride in what he had achieved. "The awarding of the Ars legendi prize to Professor Lehmann shows what outstanding and innovative teaching personalities we have been able to attract to our university," said Ihne.
