How must journalism change in a world that is changing at breakneck speed? This question will be explored at the b.future festival in Bonn from 3 to 5 October. Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg will be present with a news studio where visitors can read out news texts after a short briefing. Teachers and students from the Department of Engineering and Communication will also be demonstrating how storytelling works in the digital age.

For millions, the evening news programme on television is a ritual that is an integral part of everyday life. In the news studio at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences at the b.future festival, visitors can change their perspective and try their hand at being a newsreader. Just like in a real television studio, the interested party stands in front of the green screen and reads a short news text from the teleprompter as soon as the camera's red light comes on. The technology also creates a virtual news studio behind the recording. All participants receive a stick with the recording as a memento of the performance. The trial studio can be found on 5 October from 10 am to 4 pm in the Haus der Bildung (Room 1.58).

"The b.future festival offers a unique platform to immerse yourself in the world of journalism and digital media in a practical way," says Professor Tanja Köhler, who represents the Digital Journalism and Audiovisual Media department at the university. "For us as a university of applied sciences, participation is particularly valuable because it allows us to strengthen trust in fact-based reporting - which is essential at a time when disinformation poses an increasing threat to our democracy."

In the Yellow Tent on Münsterplatz, the university will be providing information about its media degree programmes on Saturday from 4 to 4:45 pm. The key question here is how storytelling works in the digital age. The Master's degree programme "Digital Communication and Media Innovation" is new to the range of courses on offer. The target group here are young journalists and those interested in media and communication science degree programmes as well as career changers with professional experience. The Master's degree programme "Technology and Innovation Communication", which is aimed at communication experts and media professionals with an affinity for technology topics, has been established for many years. There is also the Master's degree programme "International Media Studies", which is aimed at young journalists from all over the world.

The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg has its own TV and radio studios, which offer state-of-the-art technical equipment for producing professional audio and video productions. There is also a newsroom and a print editorial office.
