Professor Manfred Fischedick zur Rolle der Wissenschaft bei der sozial-ökologischen Transformation
In his keynote speech at the Transfer Day, the President and Scientific Director of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy emphasised the need for municipalities to network more closely and establish integrative structures with a view to municipal transformation. In order to meet challenges such as climate adaptation and emissions reduction, municipal heating concepts need to be adapted to take social aspects into account. In the interview, he focuses in particular on how science can support this socio-ecological transformation. He provides answers to questions such as: What is the potential of sustainability research and how does this knowledge reach society?
„Basically, we don't lack the technological ideas today, but almost everything we need to achieve climate protection targets, for example, is available. What we lack is broad social acceptance ... and, of course, we also need the understanding that we have to make a joint effort to implement technologies.”
