Business Information Systems (BSc)

As a business IT specialist, you will be able to act as an intermediary between computer scientists and business economists, between companies and customers - you will speak the language of both developers and users. In this innovative degree programme, you will develop, implement and operate information and communication systems, enabling you to visualise, analyse and optimise a company's structures and processes. The skills you learn will drive the ongoing digitalisation of business, administration and society.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Business Information Systems (BSc) teaches knowledge from both business administration and computer science. Marketing and controlling are just as much a part of the curriculum as analysis and programming. In addition to practical expertise, students acquire interdisciplinary skills in law and English, as well as soft skills such as presentation techniques and time management.

In the third semester, students have the opportunity to choose specialisations from the fields of business application systems, business intelligence and IT controlling. In the second study phase, students choose one of six specialisations according to their interests: Data Science, Cyber-Physical Systems, Integrated Information and Communication Systems, IT Controlling, Complex Software Systems or Visual Computing. The degree programme is rounded off with an integrated practical project and the final thesis.

Thanks to an excellent public transport network, the Sankt Augustin campus is easy to reach from cities such as Cologne, Bonn, Düsseldorf and Koblenz. The semester ticket, which is paid for with the semester fee, offers students additional mobility benefits.

Information on admission and application

Admission to a university degree course in a Bachelor's degree programme is open to anyone who can prove that they have the general higher education entrance qualification, the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, a corresponding professional qualification or a previous qualification recognised as equivalent. Selection limits (NC) vary from semester to semester, as they are always the result of supply (study places) and demand (number of applicants with which grade and waiting time).
