Autonomous Systems - Professorship for Dr Javad Ghofrani

Ghofrani studied software engineering at the Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran and then completed a master's degree and a doctorate in computer science at Clausthal University of Technology.
Following his doctorate, he gained experience in research and industry, including as a postdoc and group leader at the HTW Dresden and as a deputy professor for service robotics at the University of Lübeck. During this time, he led numerous national and international research projects in the fields of AI, software architectures, autonomous systems and Industry 4.0, working with companies such as Infineon, IAV and Bosch as well as with European research consortia.
‘Digitalisation will only unfold its full potential when autonomous systems do not operate in isolation, but are networked and work together intelligently. The role of people should always be at the centre of this - as decision-makers, designers and users of these technologies,’ says Javad Ghofrani.
He attaches great importance to practical relevance in his teaching. This includes close cooperation with industry and embedding real-life use cases in teaching.
In his spare time, he enjoys abstract painting, playing the electric guitar, reading books and hiking.
