In the startup scene, venture capital, (impact) investors, business angels, grants or public funding are often the first choice for startup financing. But not all startups or entrepreneurs get or want public funding or investors. There are many reasons for this, ranging from practical reasons such as the choice of business model, to sustainability considerations, to idealistic motives. Is this the end of the start-up idea? It doesn't have to be! Squarespace, MyMüsli, or Fritz-Kola show the way.

Bootstrapping - Founding without capital

For our event "Founding without capital - Bootstrapping 101" on March 30, 2023, we invited Louisa Wiethold, one of the founders of equalista. Louisa and her sister have built their start-up without any capital.

In the event, Louisa will introduce you to what is known as bootstrapping, i.e. how to set up a successful business with very little or no capital. She explains the bootstrapping principle, advantages and disadvantages and for whom bootstrapping is suitable. Using examples and lessons learned from her own start-up history and other successful start-ups, she brings the topic into practice. The impulse lecture shows a range of possibilities how individual start-up paths can look like and is meant to motivate to try it out and get started. Of course, there will also be a Q&A where you can ask all your questions.

What to expect at the event:
  • What is bootstrapping?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages?
  • Which business models are suitable for bootstrapping?
  • Is bootstrapping a good option for me?
  • Equalista path and learnings
  • Q&A
Who is the event suitable for?

Founders and people interested in founding, solopreneurs, freelancers, self-employed and start-up employees. The event is also suitable for those who are interested in gaining initial work experience in a start-up or early-stage/smaller company.
