E-val

In the E-val project, we are examining and optimizing current evaluation procedures and processes against the backdrop of digitization in teaching and learning. Both technical and content-related changes in the evaluation process are being initiated in order to establish contemporary options.

Legal basis and purpose of evaluation in teaching and learning

Legal basis

The Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz, HG) stipulates that higher education institutions regularly evaluate the fulfillment of their tasks (§ 7 HG). However, evaluation is not an end in itself, but serves to generate and assess data and information for the preparation of decisions by management levels and for the quality assurance and further development of study programmes. It is an important element of a university's quality assurance system in teaching and learning and should enable the participation of all stakeholders in the development of the university and its study programmes.

Evaluation Regulation of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences

At Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, evaluation procedures are regulated by the Evaluation Regulation in the sense of a generally applicable framework. However, the university emphasizes the principle of subsidiarity in the individual design and in the assessment of quality and the development of quality measures for the study programs. Subject-specific instruments that fit the respective quality culture are supplemented by university-wide surveys.

Offers in Higher Education Didactics

If necessary, lecturers can use the results of the student course evaluation as an opportunity to find out about possible options for continuing education, training or consulting. The university offers a wide range of options for further qualification in higher education didactics and teaching consulting.

Programme Development

Data only acquire value through analysis, interpretation and communication.
In addition to survey results, important information for university and programme development is provided by university statistics, findings from university research, information from accreditation reports, discussion results within the department, from quality circles, study days, ... .
The departments interpret the data as part of an internal process of reflection on the content and structure of the courses offered, the organization of teaching and examinations, and advising and support.
