International Media Expert

The ‘International Media Expert’ is a certificate for prospective technical journalists and visual communication specialists that can be completed in addition to a degree programme. With this additional qualification, important intercultural skills and advanced language skills are acquired. This facilitates research abroad and improves the chances of finding a job with international media or large companies.

The offer is available from the winter semester 2012/2013 and is open to all Bachelor students on the Technical Journalism and Visual Technical Communication programme at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.

Students must fulfil three conditions in order to receive the certificate:

1. Successful completion of modules from the areas of foreign language and intercultural competences totalling at least 7.5 ECTS (of which at least 2.5 ECTS from the area of ‘Intercultural Communication’)*.
2. Completion of the practical or study semester abroad in a foreign language
3. Successful presentation of the experiences of this practical or study semester in the form of a poster presentation

Additional courses offered

You can choose from the elective courses offered by the Language Centre. These include various foreign languages (e.g. Spanish, Dutch, etc.), business languages (e.g. Office Communication) and courses in the field of intercultural communication (e.g. Working across cultures).

Important information

Registration for the certificate programme is required. The certificate is issued at the end of the programme and is only valid together with the Bachelor's degree certificate.

* Up to 5 ECTS can be credited from the undergraduate degree programme (e-modules).
