DFG funds joint project "CytoTransport - Mechanisms and Modulation of Cellular Transport Processes"

The Department of Natural Sciences is delighted to announce that the project "CytoTransport - Mechanisms and Modulation of Cellular Transport Processes" has been awarded funding in the "Research Impulses" funding line of the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Scientists from the department (Prof. Dr. Mike Althaus (spokesperson), Prof. Dr. Matthias Preller, Prof. Dr. Jörn Oliver Sass, Prof. Dr. Margit Schulze, Prof. Dr. Christopher Volk and Prof. Dr. Steffen Witzleben), together with Prof. Dr. Dirk Reith (Department of Engineering Sciences and Communication) and Dr. Karl Kirschner (Department of Computer Science), as well as Dr. Katrin Richter (Justus-Liebig-University Giessen), will combine their expertise in biomedicine, computational modeling, structural biology, chemistry and material sciences to investigate cellular transport mechanisms in health and disease.

The project will be funded for 5 years from 01.04.2024 with approx. 6 million euros. It is one of a total of ten approved projects in the first round of the DFG's "Research Impulse" programme.
