Kommission für Qualitätsverbesserung, Studium und Lehre

The Commission for Quality Improvement, Teaching and Learning at H-BRS

The Commission for Quality Improvement, Teaching and Learning at H-BRS, advises the University Management and the Senate on matters of teaching and studies and develops planning proposals for the use of quality improvement funds.

Members of the central commission for quality improvement, studies and teaching

The following are members of the commission with voting rights:

  • The Vice President for Teaching, Learning and Further Education: Prof Marco Winzker (Chairman)
  • one representative of the group of university professors: Prof Christian Rexrodt
  • one representative of the group of academic staff: Regina Brautlacht
  • four representatives of the group of students: Sara Dakhel, Cassandra Deussen, Kamil Soltan, Zoé Zöller

The term of office is two years, for the representatives of the student group one year.

The most important task of the commission is to prepare recommendations on the use of funds provided by the state, for the improvement of teaching and learning conditions. The university management is required to take the commission's suggestions into account.

At H-BRS, the majority of funds are used to improve the supervision ratio between teaching staff and students. In addition, H-BRS finances various measures

  • to improve higher education didactics
  • to expand student services
  • to promote digitalisation and
  • to assure the quality of teaching

Part of the funds is distributed to the departments on a lump-sum basis. Therefore, in addition to the central committee, there are further commissions in the departments, which in turn have the right to propose how the funds should be used.

In the so-called progress report, the university gives an account every two years of the measures taken to improve teaching and learning conditions and the successes achieved. The commission gives a vote on these reports to the ministry.
