Retirement: Professor Rieve-Nagel leaves the university

Rieve Nagel Ruhestand Februar 2025 Abschied mit Marion Halfmann

Tuesday 4 March 2025

Professor Maike Rieve-Nagel retired at the end of February after 27 years at the university. The expert in private and commercial law began her career at H-BRS in 1998, teaching in the Department of Management Sciences Rheinbach Campus and heading the Business Management degree programme for many years.

In addition to her teaching activities, she advised SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) on legal issues relating to business start-ups and the integration of CSR measures. She also initiated the department's Mental Self Care Programme. As the department's alumni officer, Professor Rieve-Nagel promoted the exchange between graduates, students and the university.

One of the focal points of her work was the topic of corporate social responsibility (CSR), i.e. the integration of ecological and social factors into the activities of companies. Together with the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), she founded the CSR Competence Centre Rhineland in 2016, which supports SMEs in implementing sustainability strategies. She also initiated and organised the certification of the entire university as a "Fair Trade University" in 2019 - a status that H-BRS still holds today.

University President Marion Halfmann officially bid farewell to Professor Rieve-Nagel and thanked her on behalf of the university for her many years of commitment to teaching and transfer.
