Vice President International Affairs and Diversity (VP3)

Date

Tuesday, 26 November 2024

Time

12:30 - 14:00

Location

Campus Sankt Augustin (The location will be announced after registration)

How can we start a conversation about 7 October 2023 and its societal consequences? How can we do justice to the questions and emotions? How can the different perspectives in the Middle East conflict be brought in on an equal footing? The Respekt! initiative opens up a space for this and invites you to take part in the trialogue.

„The objective of the Trialogues is to create a place for mutual listening, understanding, endurance and growth.”

Initiator:innen der Trialoge

As part of the initiative ‘Respect! Time for Diversity, Time for Sustainability’ initiative, we invite you to take part in the trialogue.

The event will give you the opportunity to express your thoughts, questions, emotions and perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to discuss them and to reflect on them yourself - in a framework characterised by mutual respect. Questions about identity, political self-image, defence against guilt and the culture of remembrance will be given space. Prejudices and conspiracy theories in connection with the Middle East conflict can be counteracted through joint dialogue.

The distinctive feature of the trialogue

In addition to their expertise, our two speakers Lili Zahavi and Zakariyya Meißner as those affected by the conflict bring Jewish/Israeli and Palestinian identity to the discussion.

Agenda

The event begins at 12.30 with a 30-minute expert input input on the effects of the Middle East conflict on our coexistence. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to join in a conversation with the speakers. It is possible to attend the event for the input only if it is not possible to participate in the entire offer.

Participation is free of charge. Since the event takes place at lunchtime, we will provide finger food and drinks.

Registration

Registration is possible by Thursday, 21 November 2024 via email to respekt@h-brs.de.
We look forward to your participation!

About the Trialogue project

The Trialogue Project is a multi-perspective discussion format on the Middle East conflict initiated by Jouanna Hassoun and Shai Hoffmann. Based on the outbreak of war in Israel and Gaza on 7 October 2023 and the associated social consequences, including the strong emotionalisation, the project is dedicated to the major challenge of making the topic discussable in the school and university setting. The Trialogues are organised by the non-profit company ‘Gesellschaft im Wandel’.
