The Initiative Respekt! and the H-BRS library present the exhibition ‘#Antisemitism for Beginners’.
Cartoon zum Thema Antisemitismus

One woman asks: ‘You are converting to Judaism? Why?’ Another replies: ‘We also want to be part of this global conspiracy!’ The cartoon by Katharina Greve is one of 24 exhibits in the exhibition ‘#Antisemitism for Beginners’, which currently can be seen in the Library on Campus Rheinbach.

The initiative Respekt! Time for Diversity, Time for Sustainability invites you to visit the exhibition from Wednesday, 18 December 2024 to Tuesday, 28 January 2025.

Admission is free.

The exhibition approaches the topic of anti-Semitism from a perspective that is rather unexpected at first glance, but ultimately stirring. Cartoons and satirical texts depict reactions and areas of life in which hostility towards Jews takes place, exaggerating and ironising them. Through the lens of humour, a snapshot of anti-Semitism in our society emerges - and encourages visitors of the exhibition to reflect on stereotypes.

The exhibition presents a selection of the cartoons and satirical texts that were published in 2020 in the anthology of the same name #Antisemitism for Beginners. Myriam Halberstam, publisher of Ariella-Verlag, has brought together works by internationally renowned artists from Germany, Israel and the USA in the book.

Anti-Semitism has no place in our society. H-BRS is firmly opposed to all forms of hatred and discrimination. The organiser reserves the right to exercise its domicile right and refuse access to or exclude any person from the event.
