Initiative "Respekt!" receives award

"It is a great honor for us that our initiative Respekt! was awarded a prize right at the first presentation of the Integration Prize" says Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bode, Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity at H-BRS.

According to the Municipal Center for Integration of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, different cultures, languages and world views of the population in the district are an enrichment for society. Mutual respect, acceptance and cohesion are essential for a good social cohesion. In order to support these values, the district's Municipal Center for Integration has this year awarded the Integration Prize to organizations and initiatives that promote mutual recognition and equal cooperation. It is awarded in three categories for participative, preventive and dialogue-promoting projects and thus honors a wide variety of integrative projects that demonstrate outstanding commitment and strengthen diversity and cohesion in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis.

"We received many compliments from the selection committee of the prize, especially for the wide range of very different events and the accessibility of the Respekt! events to the general public" says Sarah Friedrichs, who is responsible for the project at the university.
