"It is a great honour for us that our Respect! initiative was awarded a prize at the first Integration Award ceremony," said a delighted Prof. Dr Jürgen Bode, Vice President International Affairs and Diversity at H-BRS

According to the Municipal Integration Centre of the Rhein-Sieg district, the different cultures, languages and world views of the population in the district are an enrichment for society. Mutual respect, acceptance and cohesion are essential for good coexistence. In order to support these values, the district's Municipal Integration Centre has been awarding the Integration Prize to organisations and initiatives that promote mutual credit transfer and equal coexistence since this year. It is awarded in three categories for participative, preventative and dialogue-promoting projects and thus honours very different integrative projects that demonstrate outstanding commitment and strengthen diversity and cohesion in the Rhein-Sieg district.

"We received a lot of praise from the award selection committee, especially for the wide range of very different events on offer and the accessibility of the Respekt! events for the general public," says Sarah Friedrichs, who is responsible for the project at the university.

The "Respect!" initiative at H-BRS
The initiative "Respect! Time for Diversity, Time for Sustainability" initiative was launched by the Vice President International Affairs and Diversity together with the Presidential Commissioner for Diversity at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) and the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE). The initiative addresses various aspects of diversity and sustainability and is open to all members of the university and interested members of the public through various event formats such as workshops, lectures and exhibitions. The aim is to promote mutual credit transfer, acceptance and understanding between all people at the university. The initiative focusses on respectful cooperation. The events take place throughout the year at the Rheinbach and Sankt Augustin campuses. The highlight of each year is a four-week campaign period that specifically bundles events on the topics of diversity and sustainability.
