Professorship in Computer Engineering for Ronny Hartanto
Ronny Hartanto was one of the first students on the English-language Master's degree programme in Autonomous Systems. Originally from Indonesia, the young scientist quickly felt at home in the department and became involved in the university's Robocup team, where he excelled scientifically, technologically and in supervising the team. The successful participation of the b-it bots in national and international competitions during this time is testament to his commitment. He also looked after international students and helped them to find their feet in everyday student life here.
His academic work did not suffer from his extracurricular activities: after completing his Master's degree, Hartanto completed his doctorate at the department (in cooperation with the University of Osnabrück) and worked for several years as a research assistant at the b-it Applied Science Institute. His doctoral thesis ‘Fusing DL Reasoning with HTN Planning as a Deliberative Layer in Mobile Robotics’ was awarded the prize of the German Computer Science Faculty Conference (FBTI).
Hartanto has worked at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Bremen since 2010. Last week, he was appointed Professor of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics at Hochschule Rhein-Waal in Kleve. The department congratulates on this success, wishes a good start on the Lower Rhine and looks forward to opportunities for co-operation!
