As was clearly visible, Professor Mustafa Adwan, the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and Professor Ahmad Abu-El-Haija, TEMPUS co-ordinator in Jordan, were impressed by their visit to our Sankt Augustin campus - not only by the lab experiments and research projects, but also by our innovative didactic concepts for practice-oriented work with the students.

The visit was not related to our University’s partnership with the German-Jordanian University, which is implemented by the Department of Computer Science in particular. During their trip, which will also take them to the Munich area as well as to Austria and Croatia, the guests - accompanied by an employee from the EU Department of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) -, are learning about job-related forms of education against the background of the forthcoming reform of the Jordanian university system.

One point discussed was the idea of informing a group of Jordanian university professors, during a one- to two-week period of stay on our campus, about the way our University implements tuition, research and transfer, establishes contacts with business enterprises and supports business start-ups, for example.

Within the framework of the EU TEMPUS programme, the Department of Computer Science is also planning to co-operate with Jordanian universities and has already submitted the corresponding official request.
