H-BRS set for a digital November in its hybrid semester
Having pulled out all the stops over the past two weeks to give their freshers a feel for their campus and for hybrid studying, putting on numerous small-scale events indoors and out, the departments now have to reorganise themselves all over again at the drop of a hat. And only if a specific lab or oral exam absolutely has to be conducted in person will the deans be able to grant an exemption.
Given that there are some 2,000 freshers, plus over 7,000 students in other years, creating an intimate atmosphere with things like digital live formats and enabling them to study successfully with interactive activities poses a huge challenge. New students also need to form groups for socialising and learning, even in the digital world and when they are separated by a computer screen.
These new restrictions will initially apply until the end of November, with the President’s Office set to keep a close eye on the situation as the month goes on. The Measures and Hygiene Plan has proved itself to be flexible and will remain in force, the only change being the more stringent requirement for mouth-and-nose coverings.
