H-BRS once again certified as family-friendly
Today, Tuesday 17 June, the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Caren Marks, will present the certificate to the university's equal opportunity commissioner, Annegret Schnell, at a ceremony in Berlin. The event is being organised under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Manuela Schwesig, and the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Sigmar Gabriel.
For the university's equal opportunity commissioner, Annegret Schnell, one thing is certain: "The compatibility of work and family is not just lip service at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, but is actively practised. The importance of this issue has also been fully recognised in the university's management philosophy." In order to be recertified, the Equal Opportunities Office developed new offers and ideas for the next three years. Some of these offers have already been implemented, such as even more flexible childcare or a mentoring concept for new employees.
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg was founded as a women-friendly university and then developed into a gender and family-friendly university. "We have always positioned ourselves clearly in terms of equal rights and the compatibility of career and family. On the one hand, this supports our students in special phases of their lives and, of course, our employees. It also gives us an advantage when recruiting staff. The renewed certification proves that we have understood and internalised this social challenge as an opportunity," says University President Hartmut Ihne
As a certified university, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg goes above and beyond the legal requirements and recognises its social responsibility
