Rapid Prototyping

Rapid prototyping / 3D printing enables the production of components and components based on 3D CAD data. Inexpensive, highly complex and filigree structures can be realized within a few hours. Development times and costs can be significantly reduced.

The department currently has two 3D printers: Stratasys μprint SE Plus and Stratasys SST768. Both printers are located in room A 039.2. They are fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers using the thermoplastic ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene).

SMT-Laboratory

The equipment of the SMT laboratory (Surface-Mounting-Technology) includes a semi-automatic mounter for applying solder paste and SMD parts on circuit boards, a reflow oven for soldering the boards and a rework station with soldering stations and microscope for inspection and correction.
