Cooperative Degree
The cooperative degree is an initiative of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg Universaty and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. The goal is to offer a combined way of studying and doing a professional training at the same time. This four years lasting education is often called the "royal road" to a doubled completion of training, because it connects theory and practise more intensive than a traditional study.
Moreover the close connection to the enterprises the students get their company-based training in leads to better advancement opportunities. The contract with the company guarantees a regular income and financial independence.
The cooperative degree takes two more semesters, because the first two are spent in the company for getting the first part of the practical training. The other seven semester are in accordance to the usual semesters of the other students of electrical or mechanical engineering. The only difference to their study is the fact that the practical semester has to be spent in the cooperative company again. In the ninth semester the cooperative students write their thesis in collaboration with the company aswell.
