Cuiting Zhu, Business Administration
"2+2" is a special programme offered for Chinese students from the Hunan University in Changsha, China. Students who are admitted get the chance to receive a double degree in Business Administration. The programme enables the students to study abroad at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University and to become an expert in sustainable management and intercultural communications.
From Software Engineering to Business Administration
Cuiting was first enrolled as a student of Software Engineering at Hunan University where she heard about the „2+2” programme for the first time. Due to the fact that Cuiting Zhu had always been quite talented in languages as well as interested in different cultures and countries, she decided to apply for the cooperative study programme. And, successfully so!
During her studies in Germany she did a one year internship at Bayer AG, Leverkusen, in the Global Accounting Department. She worked on regular disclosures for the Contract Management Project for Bayer Health Care.
The first phase of the study programme, which encompasses two years of study, takes place at Hunan University. After her arrival at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, she quickly discovered several differences in her student life at Hunan University, in particular the various age of students at H-BRS. „In China students who are in the same year are the same age but I actually liked it at BRSU because you have a lot of different influences and experiences in one semester.”
Great Support by Tutors and Professors
In terms of support and mentoring by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, Cuiting Zhu was more than satisfied: „The support from our tutors was great. They were always happy to help when we ask them in a friendly way”. Cuiting also recommends to prospective students that they work independently and increase their individual way of thinking, which she benefited a lot from.
In addition, she was incredibly surprised how close the relationship is between professors and students. „I could just walk into their office and talk to them about my thesis and ask questions. This would not be possible in China.”
After her graduation in Business Administration, Cuiting Zhu started her Masters in Mannheim at the Mannheim Business School. Regarding her future she sounds optimistic: „I would like to start a business one day. I have ideas which I would like to put into practice. All I am waiting for is a business-partner I can trust.” Where in the world this business will be situated doesn´t matter to Cuiting: ”You never know where life takes you and which possibilities can happen. I do not rule out Germany”.
