Support in case of financial difficulties

If students get into financial distress during their studies, they can find some possibilities to look for support listed on this page. Please inform yourself thoroughly about the conditions for these grants.

Loan (Darlehen) of the Studierendenwerk (Daka)

For students in financial difficulties, the Studierendenwerk provides interest-free loans (Daka) up to an amount of 12,000 euros. A one-off processing fee is charged and a guarantor is required.

The General Students' Committee (AStA) at H-BRS

In case of urgent financial problems, the General Students' Committee (AStA) offers counselling and support (also in the form of a loan).

Student Loan of the German Government

Grant for students at the end of their studies. Only under certain conditions available for international students.
The Studierendenwerk Bonn advises on this loan.

Catholic University Chaplaincy (KHG)

The Catholic University Chaplaincy (KHG) offers counselling and support for international students in financial emergencies. Required documents for the counselling interview: student ID, passport (and visa), transcript of records, bank statement.

Protestant Students Community (ESG)

The Protestant Students Community (ESG) offers support for international students, especially students from developing countries, who are involved with development politics. Further information during the office hours.

Association Hildegardis e.V.

Promotion of studies for women: The Association Hildegardis e.V. offers twice a year interest-free loans for Christian women, especially at the end of their studies. There is a special offer for international students with children.

Albertus-Magnus-Verein

The Albertus Magnus Association in the Archdiocese of Cologne grants interest-free loans of up to €5,000 to Catholic students under certain conditions.
