Raoul Könsgen studied for a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Information Systems at the Europäischen Fachhochschule (EUFH) and completed his semester abroad at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok. It was important to him early on that practice and theory were optimally combined, which is why he opted for a dual and part-time degree programme. He then completed his doctorate in 2018 at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Koblenz-Landau on the topic of online reputation. He then moved back to the private sector to work for a network operator, where he took on the position of Head of Information Systems. In 2023, he moved to Gummersbach as Head of Enterprise Service Management at an engineering and IT service provider and specialised in the ServiceNow cloud platform. During his career, he has managed numerous IT projects in which the topic of data-driven decision-making was relevant.

‘The topic of business data analytics permeates all areas of business. In order for companies to be successful in the future, they need to start looking closely at this topic today,’ says the newly appointed professor.

For his teaching, it is important to him to pass on his experience from the business world to students in a practical way. This includes, for example, the further development of collaborations with companies and the integration of realistic case studies in which students acquire the ‘tools’ to collect, process, analyse and interpret data. His research interests are in the areas of data quality management, business intelligence and the development of a data-driven corporate culture.

The father of the family spends his free time with his two children. He also enjoys running in the countryside.
