PhD Project Exhibition and PK NRW Doctoral Seminars in Sankt Augustin
Marion Halfmann opened the event in the AUDIMAX on her fifth working day as the new President of H-BRS. She also took plenty of time to talk to the doctoral students during the subsequent poster tour and was impressed by the range of research topics.
In the subsequent lecture section, Martin Sternberg, Director of the Doctoral Programme NRW, reported on current developments since the award of the right to confer doctorates. Wolfgang Gairing and Cathrin Raabe from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) presented the HAW International funding programme, which also includes funding for doctoral students. H-BRS doctoral student Alexandra Mielke explained the support offered by the Rhine-Ruhr Data Competence Centre . Here, young researchers receive help and advice on questions of data management and data analysis. On request, they can also be put in touch with experts from other universities.
Throughout the afternoon, doctoral candidates gave presentations on their research projects in four parallel tracks. The doctoral regulations of the PK NRW request a presentation once a year. For the first time, several departments of PK NRW (Technology and Systems, Informatics and Data Science and Resources and Sustainability) had joined forces for a presentation event, which was organised by H-BRS as a member university.
