GameJam 2024: Elastic heroes and creative masterpieces
In "Jack Stretch", the player takes on the role of Jack "Stretch" Turner, a former office worker at the Rubbish Corporation. By playing with Flummis, he develops into an elastic hero and fights against the threats to his city, which is plagued by toxic waste and dangerous machines. Gameplay includes continuous challenges from new waves of enemies, Jack's stretchy body parts as weapons and for special attacks, earning experience points to upgrade weapons and abilities, and a level-up system where cards can be selected to unlock new abilities and expand Jack's arsenal.
"RubberBoy" is an innovative 2.5D platformer in which the player navigates through levels by using the protagonist's rubber arms to hold on to grass platforms. The rubber arms allow the player to swing and climb through the levels. Power-ups scattered throughout the level unlock new powers and abilities that help to overcome further challenges. The main objective is to escape from the vault by skilfully using the rubber arms to overcome obstacles and enemies.
The participants not only had the chance to show off their skills, but also to win prizes and make new connections in the gaming community.
