President's Office
Presidential Commissioner for the Research Information System
Opening hours
by prior arrangement
The presidential commissioner advises the President's Office, in particular the Vice President Research and Young Academics, on all matters relating to the Research Information System (FIS).
Digitization plays a central role in the area of research management. In order to be able to compare and exchange research information between different scientific institutions, a standardized reporting basis is to be created throughout Germany. Research information includes, for example, data on employees, junior researchers, third-party funding, patents and publications. In future, the exchange is to be based on the Core Data Set for Research (KDSF).
The project to introduce a research information system was launched in July 2021. The project manager is the Vice President Research and Young Academics, represented on the steering committee by his personal assistant Sylvia Müller. The project manager is Dr. Daniel Klein. The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW via DH.NRW
The research information system (FIS) enables H-BRS to link the centrally pooled data on research at the university in order to create KDSF-compliant reports and use the data for the strategic development of the university and for external presentation.
The presidential commissioner supports the project to introduce a FIS at the university and communicates regularly with all stakeholders within ( President's Office, administration, IT-S, library, GI, ZWT) and outside (CRIS.NRW cooperation project) the university. In addition, it monitors the current state of development nationwide with regard to the research core data set (recommendations of the German Council of Science and Humanities) in particular and with regard to research information management in general and identifies and communicates future topics relevant to the university.
