What are personal data?

Personal data is information that allows the identification of a person. This includes, in particular, first name, last name, username, H-BRS email address. Information not associated with the real identity of the authorized user (e.g. favorite websites or number of users on a page) is not considered personal data.

What data is queried?

If there is a possibility to enter individual personal data (e.g. image, private contact details, social media, gender) within the Media Portal, the disclosure of this data by the authorized user is strictly voluntary. The use of all offered services is permitted - as far as technically possible and reasonable - without providing such data or by providing anonymized data or a pseudonym.

Reporting of media

Upon receiving reports, especially from authorized users, about unlawful content or on the instruction of the university management, corresponding media will be immediately blocked until the situation is clarified. The owner of the media is informed in writing about the received report, and the content of the report is forwarded to the owner. The personal data of the reporting person is not disclosed in this process.

Are external links referenced?

H-BRS assumes no liability for references to external links. The operators of the respective websites are solely responsible for their content and compliance with data protection regulations.

Are social networks referenced?

No.

Use of cookies?

Session cookies are used within the Media Portal. Cookies are small amounts of data stored by the operator of a website on the user's computer. For the execution of some functions of the Media Portal, data is stored in cookies (e.g. in navigation or in the "protected members' area"). Temporary cookies are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. They only contain an identification number (session ID), allowing the server to associate the successive requests of the browser with the same user. Temporary cookies are used by many servers and pose no security risk.

The data is not permanently stored. The use of temporary cookies has the advantage that personal data does not need to be repeatedly entered when filling out various forms.

Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. However, the user can disable the storage of cookies or set the browser to notify when cookies are sent.

If the user has disabled cookies, a so-called session ID is used for the identification of a person during a continuous access. No data is stored on the user's computer. The session ID is deleted after the end of the user's access.

Does H-BRS share data with third parties?

Data is only disclosed to authorized authorities such as the police, public prosecutor's office, or courts for the purpose of law enforcement, provided a court order is present. All H-BRS employees are obligated to confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Copyright claims on images and content

The content of the website is subject to German copyright law. Any use, reproduction, and utilization for other purposes require the consent of the authors and creators of this website.

Updating the privacy statement

Due to current circumstances, such as an amendment to the TMG (Telemedia Act), H-BRS will update this privacy statement if necessary.
