2nd place for the b-it-bots at IROS12
A robot competition was held at the IROS conference for the first time this year. From 6th till 11th October three teams, LUHbots (Germany), b-it-bots (Germany), Ephesos (Turkey), competed against each other in three different so called tests and a final.
After the prerounds (Basic Navigation Test, Basic Manipulation Test, Basic Transportation Test) the b-it-bots (750 points) achieved a very good 2nd place right after the LUHbots (775 points) and was in a good position for the final. There the b-it-bots robot demonstrated the manipulation of drawers, a robust object recognition (distinguishing between standing and laying objects) and the omnidirectional navigation (with dynamic obstacle avoidance).
The robust performance in the final secured the team a second place in the final ranking with only 10 points difference to the winner LUHbots.
- LUHbots (1054 points)
- b-it-bots (1044 points)
- Ephesos (875 points)
