Equal Opportunity Commission
The Equal Opportunity Commission advises and supports the Equal Opportunity Officer in all matters relating to a family- and gender-friendly university. It is composed of six elected employees, two elected students and the Equal Opportunity Officer of H-BRS. Since 2007, the elected members have been elected on a gender-parity basis, each from their status group. Gender parity requires that enough people have stood for election in advance.
The Equal Opportunity Commission elects the Equal Opportunity Officer and, upon proposal by the Equal Opportunity Officer, her deputies. The Equal Opportunity Officer and her deputies are appointed by the President of the University for a term of four years.
The Equal Opportunity Commission annually awards a prize for the best Bachelor's thesis with gender relevance and a prize for the best Master's thesis with gender relevance.
