Project Description

The SME 4.0 Usability Competence Centre supports small and medium-sized enterprises in designing digital technologies in such a way that they can be used easily and experienced positively. The design of digital products and services requires optimal usability (U) and a positive user experience (UX). If suitable UUX methods are applied, this leads to higher productivity, greater customer satisfaction and increasing user enthusiasm.

We want to address companies that want to make a better impression on the market with the digital products or services they have developed. We are also aimed at companies that want to select and procure IT solutions with outstanding UUX to improve their own business processes. We also enable UUX consultants to provide optimal support to medium-sized software development companies.

The competence centre offers its services free of charge and throughout Germany in four regions (North, East, South and Central). The better the UUX, the faster the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises will take place.

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg - as part of the North region - is focusing in particular on designing innovations for and with users as part of this project. This is realised through a Living Lab for the areas of housing, mobility and nutrition as well as support for SMEs in the development of user-centric innovations. In the protected area of the Living Lab, new products and services can be developed experimentally, tested under real conditions and continuously improved. E-learning programmes for UUX management and user studies (user research) support these innovation processes
